STAY
TUNED FOR THE JUNE 2012 CHALLENGE
Every month, Tiazza challenges her
students to
stay committed. Challenges are usually either max workouts (attending
as many workouts as possible) or perfect attendance challenges (
attending all the classes students sign up for) or a weight loss
challenge or a no weight gain challenge .... etc
These challenges are meant to motivate so you do not go back to old
habits and risk to lose what you worked very hard for.
Stay tuned for the upcoming challenge in June

Alyssum is a busy mother of a two. In her
words, here is what helped her lose the weight:
What I
changed to lose weight for your challenge:
1.
Started eating breakfast and four more small meals a day
2. Cut
sugar and fake sugar out of my diet except for a teaspoon of honey in
my morning tea.
3.
Gave my exercise sessions 100% of my effort.
4.
Told other people about the challenge and that I was going to win it.
5.
Made sure I slept at least 7-8 hours a night
6.
Drink about a gallon of water a day.
7.
Weighed myself every morning
8.
Didn't let a slip-up ruin my whole day.
9.
Signed up for a marathon for a long term goal.
10.
Thought about how good it feels to feel beautiful when that cheeto
called my name.

Lucky Sheely
Fitness challenge winner
Yay! So excited to have won the
fitness portion of the Fitness Challenge! It was a great
incentive to step up my work out and stay on a healthier path for
2012.
I was able to rack up the points by setting a personal goal to try to
do, at minimum, a class a day (mon-fri), but often I did 2 classes a
day. I started strong with taking advantage of extra boot camp
classes in the evenings and trying the sculpt class, but found that it
caused me a little muscle exhaustion to keep up that kind of
pace. So I decided the healthy balance to a rough work out like
Boot Camp 3x a week was to take the yoga classes. This was a
great combination for me! The gentle stretching of yoga was/is a
wonderful compliment to any high impact work out! I plan to make
yoga a regular addition to my health and well-being even after the
challenge. Besides the well-needed stretching, it also helps with
balance, alignment, and just plain old clearing of the mind!
In addition, I chose to do a few of the weekend challenges like
completing my first ever 5K run and taking the Cardio-bellydancing
workshop! These events, while giving some extra "bonus" points,
also challenged me to try something new or something I might not have
thought about trying!
I discovered that Yes I CAN run 3.1 miles (my long time answer
to anyone who asked if I ran was "only if something menacing is chasing
me" ha ha). I chose the Chinese New Year Fun Run to try (with
"fun" being the operative word) and even gave myself "permission" in my
mind to walk it if I couldn't keep up a steady jog. What I
discovered was, that I could keep up a steady easy jog and
finished my race in 32.41 minutes! While I was nowhere near 1st
place, I was so proud of myself for attempting and finishing!
I also discovered that belly dancing can be fun and quite a work
out! It was never something that had really crossed my mind to
try, and now I am looking into regular classes!
I didn't even get a chance to try the Zumba, Kickboxing, or Salsa, but
I am sure that those are fun and maybe a future challenge will inspire
me to try those classes. That's the great thing about
fitness....there is so many ways to get your body up and moving!
Just keep trying things until you find what you LIKE to do!
One of the hardest things about working out is just doing it!
Getting out of bed, or off the couch, or out the door is really the
hardest part, but once you do, you feel great! I rarely leave a
class feeling more tired than when I walked in. It's really the
mindset of getting there which is the toughest for most people! I
even worked out through a knee injury and tail bone injury. I
just adjusted what I did to not make things worse, but any good trainer
(like Tiazza) will give you an alternative movement or softer impact
movement to continue even if you have something wrong.
Thanks Tiazza for giving us a goal to work towards! The prizes
are wonderful to receive, and were a great motivating force, but the
true prize is in looking and feeling better about myself!!
